PROFORMANT NAMES WILLIAM BURCH, M.D., Ph.D. DIRECTOR
PROFORMANT expands proteomics expertise across
clinical and preclinical arenas.
Framingham, MA, June
12, 2002 — PROFORMANT, Inc. announced today the
appointment of William Burch, M.D., Ph.D. as Director.
“Bill has a tremendous wealth of experience in proteomics,
medicine, molecular biology, and physical chemistry, ” said
Joseph Kozikowski, M.D., Chairman and Managing Partner of
PROFORMANT. “We're pleased that he has achieved this promotion,
and his expertise in protein biopharmaceuticals
will certainly add to our sustained growth,” he said.
Dr. Burch has successfully executed numerous strategy, portfolio,
and commercialization projects for Fortune 100 and emerging companies,
and his work has driven the commercialization of biopharmaceuticals,
medical devices, and diagnostics.
Prior to joining PROFORMANT, Dr. Burch was a Senior Analyst,
Healthcare Industry at Decision Resources, Inc., where he
made significant contributions to the development of PathWays,
a drug discovery enterprise solution. He served as Analyst at The
Institute for Healthcare Entrepreneurship of Boston University, where
he advised The Community Technology Fund and The Venture Capital Limited
Partnership of the University Pooled Endowment on private equity investments
in early-stage biopharmaceutical and medical device opportunities.
Dr. Burch was an American Heart Association Clinical Research Fellow
at the Department of Biophysics at Boston University School of Medicine,
where he researched and co-authored articles on endogenous and recombinant
protein structure and function. He received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees
from The Boston University School of Medicine, his M.A. degree, cum laude,
in thermodynamics and physical chemistry from Brandeis University, and his
B.A. degree in biochemistry and chemistry from Brandeis University.
